Whose energy are you carrying today?

Continuing the Conversation

Hi Friends,

Happy US Election Day! I'll keep this one quick.

A few months ago, I wrote The Slow Leak, about the energy we pick up from others without realizing it. It sparked more conversations than anything else I wrote this year. Many of you replied with your own stories, and I haven't stopped thinking about them.

So I wanted to keep the conversation going.

Tomorrow, I'm hosting the final session of our 2026 Learning Series, Conversations That Go Below the Surface, in partnership with ICF Georgia.

🗓️ Energetic Connection & The Relational Field: Cultivating resonance, intuition, and alliance beyond technique

Some of the most important information in a conversation isn't spoken. We pick up on energy, notice when something shifts, and sense things before we can explain how we know them. Together, we'll explore:

• How energetic connection shows up in coaching

• What energy and intuition can tell us

• What's really happening below the surface

• How to work with what we sense while staying grounded

It's a conversational space for reflection, dialogue and real-time practice. All are welcome. While this is a partnership with a coaching organization, if you have an interest in relational energy, this session is for you.

P.S. If this practice resonated with you, pass it on to someone who needs more space and structure to reflect. So many of us are craving exactly that right now — and finding fewer places that offer it. Let this become yours. And share it with someone who needs it too.

Leading Below the Surface with LaTonya

Most leadership advice stays on the surface. This is where we go deeper. In this newsletter space, I share thoughts on grounded leadership, executive coaching, identity, and the below the surface work that drives meaningful shifts. If you’re navigating complexity, leading through change, or trying to show up more intentionally in your work, this is a space for you. Looking forward to seeing you there. - LaTonya

A Note from LaTonya Hey friends! Our next cohort of Leading Below the Surface starts November 10, and registration closes November 5. Before then, I wanted to share who joins and why, because it may not be who you'd expect. People often assume Leading Below the Surface: Relational Leadership and Coach Training, also known as Coaching Below the Surface, is only for coaches looking for ICF hours. Some are. But people enroll for all kinds of reasons. The common thread is that they want to...

A Quick Reminder Hello again! The last newsletter had a longer reflection, so I’m sending one final reminder about a couple of ways to gather this week. I’d love to see some of you there. Community gathering: supporting others through lossTuesday, October 20th, at 6pm CT Change Coaches is hosting a 60-min community gathering focused on supporting others through loss through coaching, community and peer support. Dr. Sherri Taylor will be our guest facilitator, and you’ll also have time to...

A Note from LaTonya This issue is about a question I keep coming back to: what happens when your head and your body disagree about a decision? I share how I made a few of my biggest decisions, what the research says about the body’s role, and a simple three-step practice you can try this week. It’s also the idea behind the two groups I’m running in November. Both are places to practice leading, connecting, and deciding, below the surface, alongside a small group of peers. Applied Leadership:...
